Legal
Terms of
use.
These terms cover the MIRA apps for iOS, iPadOS and Android. MIRA is a client app for a self-hosted server you run yourself — please read how that shapes what we can and can’t be responsible for.
The short version
MIRA is the “phone end” of a server you run yourself — like an email app for your own mail server. By using the app you agree to these terms.
- Any paid extras are one-time purchases, not subscriptions — you pay once, through the App Store or Google Play.
- The optional hosted demo is a limited “try it” — sessions are temporary and wiped; don’t put sensitive information into it.
- The app is provided “as is”. Because your data lives on your server, its running and its contents are your responsibility, not ours.
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing, or using the MIRA apps for iOS, iPadOS, or Android (the “app”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. These terms are between you and Tarek El Diab (trading as Vexillon), Australia (“we”, “us”, the “publisher”).
2. What MIRA is
MIRA is a client app for a self-hosted MIRA server that you run (on your own machine or hosting) — think of it like an email app talking to your own mail server. We do not operate a server that receives your conversations. Your messages and data go directly to the server address you configure, which is controlled by you (or whoever runs it). You are responsible for that server, its security, its lawful operation, and for complying with the terms of any AI model provider it is configured to use.
3. Your responsibilities
- You need your own MIRA server to use the app for real (or you can try the optional demo — see below).
- Keep your login credentials and server details secure.
- You’re responsible for the content you send, store, and generate through your server, and for how the people using your server are permitted to use it.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app to: break the law or infringe anyone’s rights; attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or attack the hosted demo or our infrastructure; circumvent security or usage limits; or misrepresent the app as operated by anyone other than the publisher. The MIRA software is open source (see section 8); these terms govern your use of the published apps and the hosted demo, and do not limit rights granted to you by that open-source licence.
5. Purchases (Pro / Supporter / Founder)
The app may offer optional one-time in-app purchases — for example Pro, Supporter, or Founder tiers. These are not subscriptions: you pay once, and there is no recurring charge. What each tier unlocks is described in the app at the point of purchase.
- Billing, receipts, and refunds are handled by the store you bought through — the Apple App Store or Google Play — under their terms and refund policies. Please direct refund requests to Apple or Google.
- Purchases are per-platform and non-transferable: a purchase on iOS does not carry over to Android (or vice-versa), and purchases are tied to your store account.
- You can restore a previous purchase on a new device via the store’s “Restore Purchases” flow; if it doesn’t restore, contact support@vexillon.ai.
6. The hosted demo
We operate an optional hosted demo (demo.vexillon.ai) so you can try MIRA without your own server. The demo needs no account, and:
- Guest sessions are temporary and sandboxed, and are wiped automatically; capacity is limited and the demo may be slow, changed, or unavailable at any time.
- Your demo messages are sent to OpenRouter, a third-party AI service, solely to generate replies, with Zero Data Retention enabled — see the Privacy Policy for details.
- The demo is for evaluation only. Do not enter sensitive, confidential, or personal information you wouldn’t want processed by a third-party AI service.
7. AI output
MIRA is an AI assistant. Its responses can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation, and it is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or safety-related). Don’t rely on it for decisions that need a qualified professional. You are responsible for how you use its output.
8. Open-source software
The MIRA software is open source under AGPL-3.0-or-later. Your rights to the source code are governed by that licence, available with the project. These Terms of Use govern your use of the published apps and the hosted demo; they don’t restrict the freedoms the open-source licence grants you.
9. Disclaimers
The app and the demo are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the app or demo will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that they will meet your requirements. You are responsible for your own server and its data; we have no access to or responsibility for it.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app or demo — including data on a server you run. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to the amount you paid for the app (if any).
Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our goods or services come with such guarantees, those rights apply in addition to these terms.
11. Changes and availability
We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date, and (for changes that affect the apps) before an updated app version relies on them. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the hosted demo at any time. The apps themselves keep working with your own server regardless.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, without affecting any consumer rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.
