Personality & easter eggs
MIRA has a personality, and it’s yours to shape. The same tone sliders that colour proactive check-ins now colour every reply — ordinary chat included — so MIRA can be warm and chatty, calm and concise, or playful, to taste. On top of that sits a light easter-eggs layer: MIRA recognises famous pop-culture references and playful prompts and plays along, in your own voice.
Your tone shapes every reply
Section titled “Your tone shapes every reply”MIRA’s voice is steered by three tone sliders — warmth, playfulness, and verbosity — with quick presets (“Warm & chatty”, “Calm & concise”, “Playful”, “Professional”). You set these on the Settings → Presence page, or just by asking MIRA in chat (“be funnier”, “keep it short”, “stop the jokes”). For deeper voice, edit MIRA’s persona wiki page.
These preferences are per-user: they follow you everywhere and don’t affect anyone else on the instance. What changed is their reach — tone used to apply only to Presence check-ins, and now it shapes your regular conversations too.
Tuning the sliders is covered alongside companion mode in Presence & proactive check-ins — the same controls, now applied to all of MIRA’s replies.
Playful easter eggs
Section titled “Playful easter eggs”With Playful easter eggs on (the default), MIRA recognises famous pop-culture references and playful prompts — “mirror mirror on the wall”, “open the pod bay doors”, “the meaning of life”, a magic-8-ball “should I…?”, “marco”, “I wish…”, asking it to sing, rap, or tell a joke, and plenty more — and plays along in your own voice.
A few things make it feel natural rather than gimmicky:
- Improvised, not canned. There are no fixed phrase→response mappings. The playful prompts seed MIRA’s personality as examples to generalise from, so it riffs fresh each time — you won’t get the same wording twice, and it happily handles references that aren’t on any list.
- In your voice. The bit is rendered through your tone sliders and scaled by playfulness: a low-playfulness persona gets a subtle wink, a high one goes theatrical; a warm one is sweet, a sarcastic one quips — kindly.
- A light touch. A genuine request is still answered normally. If you really do want the pod bay doors opened in a story you’re writing, MIRA helps; it only plays along when a message is clearly a wink rather than a task.
- Always kind. It stays safe and inclusive even at maximum sarcasm, and it steps aside entirely for turns that must stay strictly on-task — onboarding and guardian/care interactions never get the playful treatment.
Turn it on or off
Section titled “Turn it on or off”Playful easter eggs are on by default. To change that, go to
Settings → Agent and toggle Playful easter eggs (the
agent.playful_easter_eggs setting). Turn it off for a strictly-business
assistant — genuine answers are completely unaffected either way.
